These days, the complex process of globalization is increasingly
and intensively articulating national and regional economies in
very different forms. As a consequence, this process demands the
establishment of some systematic study, taking at least the three
aspects below into consideration:
1)
a theoretical and analytical study of the features of the globalization
process and its main trends, as well as its impact on the previous
forms of articulation of the world economy;
2)
a permanent follow-up of these features, trends and of their corresponding
impacts at global and regional level;
3) the connection between the structural analysis and the examination
of the most immediate behavior of the global economy, to be able
to evaluate the trends and the probable unfoldings of the world-wide
conjuncture.
To
tackle this study, an international network was created on global
economy (REGGEN) of which Professor Theotônio dos Santos is
in charge of coordinating. This network is sponsored by the UNESCO
and by the United Nations University, hosted in the Colégio
do Brasil
under the supervision of the UNESCO Chair on the same subject.
The
REGGEN will facilitate the activities of teaching and researching
of a set of institutions of the world, dedicated to the study of
the World Economy.
The REGGEN counts
on the supporting of the Instituto
de Lógica, Filosofia e Teoria da Ciência (ILTC)
for the executive secretariat of all its activities.
